Waterfalls and Woodland | Kennall Vale

Kennall Vale is a beautiful woodland situated on the outskirts of the small village Ponsanooth. Nestled a few miles away from the vibrancy of Falmouth, Kennall Vale is the perfect place to spend a winters Sunday - before heading home for a roast of course!

Once home to the Kennall Vale gunpowder factory, the landscape of the woodland is the most unusual mix of wild, overgrown plants and concrete ruins.
In it's prime the gunpowder factory produced around 5,000 barrels of explosives a year and business was booming (sorry I had to) for nearly 100 years.
Unfortunately, there were a number of tragic accidents at the site, which make the ruins all the more haunting.
And if ruins aren't your thing, the sweeping glades are sure to draw you in!

Among the peaceful chirping of birds the sound of rushing water fills your ears. It's an amazing experience, and there are some great places to see the water from - there's even a wooden bridge over the most dramatic part which is the perfect viewing (and photo taking) spot!
The vale is also filled with an abundance of trees - overflowing with beech trees covered is moss and ferns - which makes the view even more incredible.
Plan your visit:
I think the most important thing to note is that there is no parking for the reserve. There are plenty of places to park your car in the village, just down the hill, but the narrow lane leading to the entrance is strictly a no parking zone due to farming vehicles and access needs.
The woodland is accessed via a small footpath that runs alongside the old pottery (ignore the grand entrance to Kennall House and keep walking up the hill).
Dogs are very welcome!
So get stomping at Kennall Vale!
